For $5,000 you can own a 24-Karat gold NES

I don't know why... But I want it.

Analogue, a retro hardware manufacturer, is taking reservations for a 24-karat gold-plated Nintendo Entertainment System, called the Analogue Nt. The limited edition NES won't come alone though, it also comes with an original gold colored cartridge for The Legend of Zelda.

Now, you might be thinking 'Wow that's such a pretentious console' and you're not wrong… But being pretentious every once and a while can't hurt, right?

The console itself isn't an emulation system per se, each unit – even the ones that aren't covered in gold – are built with original hardware making it compatible with original NES and Famicom hardware like the NES Zapper and Famicom Disk System.

GOLD

The limited gold-plated Nt comes with an HDMI upgrade, which will bring the resolution to 1080p and 720p.

In addition to all gold everything, every unit has a transparent baseplate, so you can see exactly how beautiful your Analogue Nt is inside.

At this point, we really need to start talking about price — the gold-plated console is $4,999.00. Yeah, you read that right. Oh, and if you want to go grab the less awesome not gold-plated version… you can't. It's sold out.

While you scrounge up that $5K, here's what's in the box:

  • 24k Gold plated Analogue Nt
  • Premium Limited Edition Box
  • The Legend of Zelda (original gold colored cartridge)
  • RGB or HDMI upgrade
  • Full cable set or HDMI cable
