With the closed beta of For Honor ending this past weekend, players got a chance to see some of the upcoming battles we'll get our hands on when the game releases in a couple of weeks. Today, Ubisoft announced an open beta to take place shortly ahead of the game's release from February 9th-12th.
The beta will include a new online mode called Elimination, which is a best of five rounds, 4v4 match with no respawns. Once you die, you're dead until the next round starts. Nine of the game's 12 heroes will be playable, and there is still one online mode of the five we have not heard details on yet.
The War of the Factions will continue into the open beta giving more players a chance to fight for one of the three Factions – Knights, Samurai, and Vikings. Following the closed beta, the Vikings led the War of the Factions, which pulled data from the performance of players across all three platforms. Although the Vikings are currently in the lead, Samurai and Knight players have the chance to lead their Faction to victory. Whichever faction is in the lead at the end of the closed beta will receive bonus items when the full game releases.
A special Twitch livestream has been planned to feature celebrity battles to aid in the War of the Factions. It will include Lauren Cohan, Jason Momoa, Alfie Allen and Demetrious Johnson, as well as several of the top Twitch streamers to pledge their swords in a live For Honor battle taking place on Tuesday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. PST. This live War of the Factions competition, which will showcase the new Elimination mode, will be livestreamed on the For Honor Twitch channel.
For Honor releases on February 14th on PC, Xbox One and PS4, and be sure to read our impressions of the closed beta this past weekend before you play as it includes some helpful tips.
