Today Batman's new suit and the Batmobile were revealed, showing Ben Affleck as Batman for the upcoming Superman vs. Batman. Who cares?!
You know what I care about? My favorite X-Men character getting a standalone movie. X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed last night that Channing Tatum will be playing Gambit.
Donner told Totalfilm on the red carpet in London for X-Men: Days of Future Past "It is Channing. He's a rogue, Channing, he's a rascal, like Remy LaBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that." Also, Channing Tatum is a southpaw.
Donner expressed interest in Channing Tatum as Gambit for a standalone movie back in January. At the time, I was weary of it. But let's face the facts, unless someone of Channing's celebrity is cast as Remy, we would never get a Gambit movie. It'll be interesting to see if Channing can handle the accent required for the role, and he'd have to slim down from his current muscular build, but I'm excited.
As much as I loved Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, they wasted his character. Make sure to check out our article back from 2012, 5 Marvel characters that deserve their own movie – Gambit.
