Forget Destiny’s Loot Cave; “Loot Stairs” is the new Legendary Engram farming location

A new way to farm Legendary Engrams

When Bungie took away Destiny’s loot cave, Guardians scrambled to find a replacement. They did, but it wasn’t nearly as entertaining as it was to mindlessly shoot into a dark cave and watch glowing green, blue, and purple orbs fall to the ground. Since the patch, we’ve seen several attempts at finding a new loot cave, and here’s the latest.

Cleverly dubbed the “loot stairs,” this new legendary farming location is still in Old Russia on Earth, and is actually much easier to get to than the original loot cave.

When entering patrol in Old Russia, simply ride your sparrow to the building directly in front of you. It’s inside here where the new farming place is located. But before going in, clear any mobs outside (make sure you look over the cliff on the right and take out any additional enemies as they will prevent the stair mobs from spawning).

Once all enemies are cleared, head inside the building and walk down the stairs. The stair mobs should’ve already spawned, so clear them out once again and then head through the double doors right in front of you. You only need to stand a few stairs down. Now because you can’t actually see the mobs spawn, you’ll need to watch your radar for the red blip. When you see that, look out the doorway and clear any mobs.

It should be noted that once every few minutes you’ll hear a dropship coming. Head outside building and clear any mobs the ship drops over the cliff. Kill them and head back into the loot cave, er stairs.

It's worth pointing out that since the latest patch, the loot system in Destiny has been much better. Blues are now guaranteed Rares or higher, while Purples are now guaranteed Legendaries or higher. So the Cryptarch isn't as much of a pain in the butt as before. Still, though, this is an easy way to increase that Cryptarch rank.
