Former Rare devs creating the pop-up world of Tengami

Ex-developers from Rare have founded their own studio and revealed their first game, a puzzle-adventure called Tengami that's set in Japan.

The game world is modeled after Japanese papercrafts and unfolds as you play and manipulate your surroundings. The video below isn't terribly exciting (not as much as Media Molecule's recently announced Tearaway) — there's a whole lot of walking involved — but it does look beautiful and calming.

Tengami is coming to iPhone, PC, and Mac in 2013. It will release first for iPad.

Phil Tossell and Jennifer Schneidereit founded the independent studio, Nyamyam, in late 2010 after working together at Rare on Kinect Sports.
