Former Uncharted director Amy Hennig to receive BAFTA

Former Uncharted writer and director Amy Hennig will be honored at the BAFTA Awards ceremony on June 12th with a "Special Award" BAFTA. The former lead on the critically acclaimed action-adventure series was "forced out" by Naughty Dog over two years ago according to rumors and was replaced by the writers of The Last of Us Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley. While Naughty Dog denied the claims, it felt her departure from the studio was very abrupt as almost a years worth of work was scrapped in order for Druckmann and Straley to come in and take over.

"Amy is one of the industry's most successful and respected creative leaders, and we are thrilled to recognize her outstanding contribution through this special award–one of BAFTA's highest accolades," BAFTA Games Committee chairman Harvey Elliot said in a statement.

"Her work in the games industry spans nearly three decades, and throughout this illustrious career she has championed the importance of a game's script, with this creative vision pervading all her work." he added. "We look forward to celebrating this much-deserved award with her."

The former Uncharted writer is now working over at Visceral, developers of the sci-fi horror series Dead Space, working on a Star Wars game. Speculation has lead people to believe Hennig may be working on a revival of the previously cancelled Star Wars game centered around fan-favorite character Boba Fett, Star Wars: 1313.

Although it's unclear how much of Amy Hennig's game is still in Uncharted 4, if there's any at all, Naughty Dog still credited her with a whole screen saying thank you at the end of the credits for the game.

In other news, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has proved incredibly successful even after its troubled development. The game is currently the highest rated game of this generation (excluding remasters) and has become the best selling first-party title on PS4.
