Former WWE Superstar cast as Atom-Smasher on The Flash Season 2

Adam 'Edge' Copeland reveals new role on The Flash

The second season of The Flash will feature former WWE Superstar Adam Copeland, perhaps better known by the wrestling community as "Edge". In an exclusive interview between CW and Comicbook.com, Adam Copeland reveals he will play Atom-Smasher in the upcoming season, and will debut in the premiere episode. Here's how CW describes the character:

"One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash.  His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him."

For those unfamiliar, Atom-Smasher (Al Rothsyein) is grandson to the villain Cyclotron, who is godson to Al Pratt, the Golden Age hero known as The Atom before Ray Palmer took on the name. Rothstein's original superhero name was Nuklon before he officially became the Atom-Smasher.

In other related news, Michael Ironside also joined Season Two of The Flash and got casted as Captain Cold's father. Captain Cold's father a.k.a Lewis Snart is described as " a cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal. Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children."

Both his children, who are played by Wentworth Miller/Captain Cold and Peyton List /Golden Glider, are already established characters from Season One.

The Flash returns to Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on The CW in October. Let us know in the comments below if you're excited!
