FOX has released the original concept art for Cyclops and Mystique in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Now, these look pretty familiar!

FOX has released the original concept art of the final costumes for Cyclops and Mystique in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.

This summer's X-Men: Apocalypse was met some mixed reviews, but overall positive feedback nonetheless. The movie was a decent follow-up to 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' and did a great job of setting up the team of X-Men with which we most commonly associate with. The end of the film featured the new X-Men in their traditional uniforms, but with a few modern design twists. That being said, it seems the filmmakers were originally going to go with designs that more closely resembled the 90's costumes that have become synonymous with the heroes, namely, Cyclops and Mystique:

Both outfits feature the versions we know best from the comics, as well as the original X-Men animated series on Fox Kids. Cyclops' outfit appears to have two versions, one with his classic bue leotard and gold cross sash, whle the other has a more aesthetically simple look. Mystique's also bears a striking resemblance to the 90's version, with the exception of her blue skin, which was likely not included in the concept art to keep from off-setting the blue in her suit.

While the new X-Men movie showed off a differently interpreted idea for their suits, its likely more movies are coming and the suits we know and love may become the updated versions, giving us the nostalgia trip we've been asking for since the beginning.
