Free to Play Hack-and-Slash Let It Die comes out September 26 for PC

Let It Die is coming out very soon on PC, this September 26th. Just last month developer Grasshopper Manufacture announced that the former PS4 exclusive would receive a PC port. Let It Die will remain a Free to Play title on PC as well and already has a store page on Steam.

Taking place in a post-apocalyptic future where the world has been mostly destroyed by earthquakes, the player finds himself on a towering island city with the goal of reaching the top. All you need to do is kill all demons and others players on the way. Oh, did I also mention that Death himself befriends you? Well, it’s a Grasshopper game after all. A bizarre and ludicrous world and characters are par for the course.

It’s almost two years ago when Let It Die first released for the Playstation 4. The allure of a stylish game made by the cult Japanese game studio had a less-than-stellar reception than one might expect. There’s the obvious reservations of F2P titles being geared towards heavy in-game grind but Let It Die had more baggage than just that.

Once Let It Die was unveiled in 2014, it became clear that highly anticipated Grasshopper game Lilly Bergamo was no more, receiving a heavy re-design in visual style and gameplay, finally becoming Let It Die. It’s difficult to really understand how “fans” of Lilly Bergamo were disappointed by its early demise when all Grasshopper ever revealed about the project was a short CG trailer and nothing more. Probably wishful thinking of what could have been and the added bitterness of a Free to Play model.

In the here and now however, Let It Die did show typical bad signs of the F2P business model, by gearing the experience heavily towards grind or of course, microtransactions. Nonetheless, quality gameplay and that stylish Grasshopper touch made Let It Die a success, amassing more than 4 million downloads on the PS4. And next week, a whole new audience on PC will surely boost those figures by a healthy amount. After all, PC is the home of F2P games.
