inXile Entertainment successfully took to Kickstarter to fund Wasteland 2 over 25 years after its predecessor released in 1988. In the end of the game's Kickstarted campaign featured 61,290 backers that pledged $2,933,252 to help bring Brian Fargo's dream to life.
Recently, inXile Entertainment revealed the Game of the Year (GOTY) Edition for Wasteland 2. The GOTY Edition brings the game into Unity 5 (the latest version of the Unity game engine), improving environment textures, character models, and physically based rendering. It also includes new voice overs to make the game even better and tons of gameplay updates.
If you backed Wasteland 2 on Kickstarter or purchased the original edition of Wasteland 2, then you will be able to upgrade to the GOTY Edition for free – courtesy of a very thankful development team:
“We wanted to re-affirm our gratitude to our backers and our dedication to RPG fans, as we have been most fortunate to return to our roots,” says Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile. “We plan to continue our proud tradition with Bard’s Tale IV, which we’ll crowdfund later this year.”
