‘Friday the 13th’ reboot movie reportedly shut down

It appears that the Friday the 13th reboot has met the same fate as The CW's attempt at a Friday the 13th TV series – it got shut down. While the TV series was outright shut down, the fate of the reboot is a bit vague.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Friday the 13th reboot has been "shut down" less that six weeks out from starting principal photography. Sources close to the reboot revealed that "the production was not ready to go at this date," but no one has used the word 'canceled'.

Last week, Paramount slotted the World War Z sequel for the release date that had been previously assigned to the Friday the 13th reboot and did not reassign a release date for the horror film. Apparently, the reboot was pushed aside because of the general failure of the recently released 'Rings' horror film in the box office.

While the reboot had seen its fair share of issues, which could have been described as development hell, the movie had been "on the right track," according to one of the studio heads. Details on the film had even been revealed. The reboot was intended to be an origin film, but different from the former films' origin stories.
