Friday the 13th the Game announced, will be multiplayer only

Gun Media has just announced that they are working on Friday the 13th The Game which will be a multi player only title utlizing a third person view.

The game is on Kickstarter now seeking $700K in order to complete funding. Using a multi player format with a 1 v 7 setup, one player will control Jason himself while the other seven take over the role of camp counselors at Crystal Lake. Counselors will need to escape from Jason and take him out but working together is key as we know how tough Jason is.

Jason, who will be motion captured by screen legend actor of the series Kane Hodder, will have access to some of the most brutal maneuvers in the game. Whether it's smashing someone's face into a tree over and over or stomping them onto a pile of spikes, you will be able to come up with all sorts of ways to take out the counselors at will.

Built on the Unreal Engine, the game is targeting a release on PC as well as Xbox One and PS4 with a number of yet to be revealed stretch goals. The developer promises they will be revealed shortly. For those a little worried about how the game will play out from a ratings standpoint, don't. According to the developer "We are not going for anything less than a Mature Rating on this; the franchise deserves it! These scenarios might also make their way to VR, and would bring an entirely new perspective to the slasher genre!"

So far the game has an estimated time of release of a year from now, October 2016 but of course that can always change. This seems to be the Jason game we've all always wanted and if it's what you want, be sure to hit the back button over on Kickstarter in order to get the game going. It will mark the first time in the franchise's history we get to control Jason himself as well as the first Friday the 13th game in 26 years since 1989. And guess what, if you back the game you may even end up as one of the counselors featured in the game itself.

What are your thoughts on this? Let us know.
