Frontier brings WiiWare series LostWinds to PC

Nearly eight years after its soaring debut as a launch title for Nintendo's WiiWare service, Frontier has seen fit to bring LostWinds and its sequel, LostWinds 2: Winter of the Melodias, to PC today. Quite the throwback.

The series starred Toku, an inexperienced boy who relied on the wind powers of EnrilĀ to navigate Mistralis' many (but relatively tame) perils. As the original games relied on the Wii Remote's pointer as a primary control mechanism, controls have been altered for this updated release. Long before WiiWare became a dumping ground that blurred the lines of good-quality releases versus the hastily-produced, LostWinds set the bar high with its original gameplay. How it will fare outside this environment and in a more crowded space remains to be seen, but its underlying charm should help see it through.

Both LostWinds and LostWinds 2 are available today on Steam and can be purchased either separately or as a package deal in The Blossom Edition bundle.
