Frontier Defense now a permanent mode in Titanfall

Defend the harvester in this co-op, wave-based defense mode

Respawn Entertainment has listened to your feedback, and has now made Frontier Defense a permanent mode in Titanfall.

Added to the online shooter in the most recent update back in October, Frontier Defense is a cooperative gameplay mode that tasks a group of four players with defending a "vital object" — harvesters — from "increasingly intense" waves of AI-controlled enemies.

In addition to offering players a alternative way to play together outside of the Titanfall's competitive landscape, Frontier Defense also introduces a number of new enemy types including Grunts that'll use every weapon in their arsenal; a new generation of upgraded Spectres; Sniper Spectres designed to kill while in stealth and from a distance; Suicide Spectres that move faster and explode when nearby; Cloak Drones which will provide cloak invisibility to enemies beneath them; upgraded Titans; Nuclear Titans that nuke the harvester; Mortar Titans with long-range mortar strikes; and Arc Ttitans which are described as "possibly the deadliest of them all."

To aid you in your defense, players are supplied with one deployable stationary turret (up to three can be placed at a time) and strategically placed Loadout Crates that allow you to switch loadouts at will, while also refilling ammo and ordnance.

Dying in Frontier Mode isn't the end of the game, as you are flown back into battle via a dropship circling above the battlefield. Even if your entire team wipes, you can continue playing, though it will hurt the star rating that's assigned at the end of the match based on your performance.

Frontier Defense is playable on all 24 of Titanfall's maps, each with unique Harvester locations, enemy waves, and routes. By dying less, finishing faster, and allowing less Harvester damage, you can raise your score and earn three stars on every map.
