Fruit Ninja getting overhauled; huge update coming

Did you know that ninja's only violently cut up fruit (as many as they can at one time for extra combo points)? Well, it's true – at least that's what I've learned after playing Fruit Ninja for hours.

Originally released in 2010, Fruit Ninja has seen over 500 million downloads – that's a lot of ninja's…I feel bad for all the fruit out there. Four years later, we are going to be seeing a brand new Fruit Ninja and it's coming in the form of an update.

Halfbrick has taken the original game and thrown everything out the window (except for the core concept of slicing and dicing fruit). The menu and UI are being completely overhauled to allow for a streamlined gameplay. Everything between playing, equipping gear and social features will be easily accessible no matter what you're doing.

Each game will start out with the option to equip Blades and Dojos (no longer are they there just for looks). Your game will change depending on what you equip:

"For example, the Great Wave dojo periodically spawns ten fruit at once, and the Autumn Blade creates a fruit-swirling tornado with every pineapple sliced. Players can mix and match their favorites, and leaderboard entries will display which combination of items were used."

On the list of new features, that's pretty awesome.

You'll be seeing this new Fruit Ninja in early October, don't forget to open the App to get the download.

Also on the list of new Fruit Ninja things is the five-part web series named Origins. You'll find the first episode in the video above and can access the rest on Fruit Ninja's YouTube.
