French indie studio Game Bakers has announced their newest hack and slash title Furi for PC and PS4 to release next year.
As you can see in the reveal trailer above, Furi feeds on the tension of one-on-one fights against deadly adversaries. It’s an intense, ultra-responsive hack-and-slash with a unique mix of fast-paced sword fighting and dual-stick shooting. Takashi Okazaki, the creator of Afro Samurai, designed the characters for Furi with each one possessing its own individual move sets and animations. We don't have an official character count as of yet, but we reached out to the studio in an effort to get more information.
Emeric Thoa, the game's Creative Director, stated that
“I have long dreamed of making a game of pure boss fights, with a focus on dueling and besting enemies who rival your own skill and strength. Furi is designed with Japanese action games in mind — games that reward skills and reflexes, with a character that reacts immediately, like Devil May Cry, any game from Platinum, or even the Super Punch Out series.”
There is no exact release date yet and only a 2016 launch window has been confirmed for both PC and PS4 as of now. As Mr. Thoa noted above, Furi does possess a certain similarity to Devil May Cry with its one on one combat techniques while also maintaining its own individual sense uniqueness.
