Futurama to return as a mobile game

Futurama aired its series finale in September 2013, since then we have had to keep out dreams of the show continuing on by watching reruns on Netflix. It appears as though we can turn our hopes to Wooga, a German mobile game developer, to resurrect the series with Futurama: Release the Drones.

Release the Drones will take the Planet Express crew and pit them against the always villainous MomCo. The mechanic behind the game is simple, solve puzzles by collecting drones to win the delivery war again MomCo.

The game may not be an outright resurrection, but it's something.

Luckily for those concerned with quality control, former Futurama writer and executive producer Patric Verrone will be taking part in the game's development, along with Monkey island designer Dave Grossman. No release date has been revealed, but the game is set to release on iOS and Android.
