Future PS4 update will allow you to dim DualShock 4 light bar

You may recall back in January, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida saying future updates to the PlayStation 4 would not grant users the ability to disable the DualShock 4's light bar. Turns out, that's true (at least for the time being), but Sony is at least addressing the issue.

Yoshida, clarifying a tweet from Spike TV's Geoff Keighley, has revealed a future PS4 firmware update will allow you to "dim the LED, not turn off."

While it's disappointing that we still won't be able to completely turn off the light bar, the ability to dim it is at least a step in the right direction. Personally, it doesn't really matter to me, but this seems to be a big issue for many PS4 owners who complain of the glare it causes when playing games in the dark. Who knows, maybe the ability to dim the light will one day lead to us being able to turn it off completely one day.

It's unclear if this functionality will be included in the upcoming PS4 update that Sony briefly detailed earlier this week.
