FX picks up the rights to Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’… because awesome is attracted to awesome

After taking in $54.1 million in its opening weekend, the Seth MacFarlane comedy Ted has had its television rights picked up by FX. Ted is the story of a teddy bear that comes to life and grows up with his best friend, Mark Wahlberg. There's foul-mouthed shenanigans galore, and audiences seem to love it so far.

So far this year, FX has also picked up Men in Black III, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Avengers, and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. That's a very impressive line-up of movies set to have television premiere on the male-oriented network. FX seems like the perfect landing spot for Ted, as its Family Guy-style humor is perfect for the demographic. Along with shows like Wilfred, Louie, Anger Management, The League and Archer, FX has a formidable adult male comedy line-up.

While I'm sure The Avengers will draw bigger numbers than Ted when it premieres on television, I expect Ted to do rather well. It'll be edited to hell, and I'm sure the verbage that the foul language is changed to will be awful, but I'm sure it'll still be funny. It's nothing they don't already do for Family Guy.
