Gambit film loses its director

It wasn't too long ago when we heard that Rupert Wyatt, the director behind the Planet of the Apes reboot, would be directing the upcoming X-Men spinoff film, Gambit. This is no longer the case as Wyatt has walked-out on the upcoming film.

The reason for his departure have been somewhat vague, Wyatt says that the film conflicted with another project of his, but rumors have been circling that it was a disagreement over the script and budget that was the true reason.

Wyatt issued the following statement:

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

Last month, Channing Tatum officially signed on to take the role of Gambit in the film. Fox will have to hurry to find a replacement director if they want the film to release while superhero movies are still the big thing.
