Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams may play Ellie in The Last of Us movie

Casting for the newly revealed The Last of Us movie has already attracted some popular names, among them Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams who is said to be in talks for the role of Ellie.

Williams, 17, spoke with the movie team during San Diego Comic-Con. A tweet from Buzzfeed film reporter Adam B. Vary dropped the news, also affirming that a deal has yet to be struck.

Vary then added TLOU game director Neil Druckmann’s thoughts on the role of Ellie: “In an ideal world, Ashley Johnson would be 14. But there’s some way to get those actors into the film.” Druckmann also said that Naughty Dog itself will decide the movie’s cast rather than the film studio.

As Eurogamer reports, early talks with Druckmann hinted at a different ending than that of the game, but the film’s producer, Sam Raimin, advised against it. It’s now unlikely to see a different resolution, but Druckmann has only said “it’s evolving” in reference to the film’s plot.
