Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie revealed as ‘chrome trooper’ Captain Phasma in The Force Awakens

Confirming previous speculation, a leaked image from the newest Vanity Fair issue reveals that Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) will play chrome trooper Captain Phasma. It's possible this was the big surprise Vanity Fair was saving for later today.

The leaked image shows the First Order officer standing outside a charred and ruined building following an attack.

The caption reads: "The Phasma Menace. First Order officer Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) surveys the rubble following an attack." The caption also references the recently revealed image of Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata. Earlier today, Vanity Fair also confirmed that Adam Driver will be playing villain Kylo Ren.

Gwendonline Christine is probably most well known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in HBO's Game of Thrones. If she's half as badass as Captain Phasma as she is as Brienne of Tarth, than I think we are in for quite a treat.

I just hope they keep her bad because Star Wars is seriously lacking female evil villains.
