Gamers hit by 11.7 million malware attacks in 2013

Kaspersky Lab, a multinational Internet security company based in Russia, found that gamers suffered 11.7 million malware attacks globally this year.

Those attacks, which were largely focused in Europe, averaged 34,000 a day. Spain suffered the most in Europe overall, with 138,786 attacks, followed by Poland with 127,509.

Games like Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto 5 were popular targets. Attackers used fake downloads and tools as lures to steal usernames and passwords.
