Gamers petition for EA to oppose SOPA and ESA, 120K signatures already

It seems that petitioning is the best way to get a companies attention lately.  First we had a petition to bring Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD to PC.  Most recently we had a petition to bring Dark Souls  to PC get enough publicity to grab Namco Bandai's attention.  Today in the gaming industry, if you want your voice to be heard, you need need to start a petition.

And that's exactly what one gamer did when they started a petition to encourage EA to "distance itself from the ESA and its choice to support the bill OR publicity expresses its opposition to the bill".  Until EA does that, they will be "treated as ambivalent".

EA has already decided not to support SOPA, but to 120,000 individuals that isn't enough.  They want EA to publicly oppose SOPA by standing up against the ESA, which it is currently a member of.

Many game developers, publishers, and websites have already announced protests planned for January 18th including shutting down websites and game servers.  Earlier today Red 5 Studios announced they'd be closing Firefall's beta for a day, as well as not attend E3.  Recently Mojang revealed that they would be shutting down Minecraft.net and Mojang.com for the day, as well.

Currently the petition has 120,000 signatures which will hopefully send a message to the world's second largest publisher.
