Get ready to die. A lot. Next month, from June 1 through June 15, Dark Souls will be available for free on Xbox 360 for those with an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription.
Known for its ridiculous difficulty, Dark Souls has quickly become a must-play game — if only to brag to your friends about your accomplishments. I've yet to actually play the game, but I did play about one minute of Dark Souls 2 on PC (with mouse and keyboard and without a HUD). I beat the first monster I encountered and called it a day. Too easy.
In addition to having your hands full with Dark Souls, Xbox 360 owners are also getting Charlie Murder for free. Available to download between June 16 through June 30, Charlie Murder is a side-scrolling beat em up in which you take on the role of the title character or one of his band mates to save the world from a zombie apolocalypse. I don't think it's as hard as Dark Souls, but it looks entertaining.
And in celebration of Games with Gold's one-year anniversary, Microsoft is throwing in an extra free Xbox 360 game: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. This is an upgrade to the original, featuring 39 playable characters, an online tournament mode, a team battle mode for up to eight players, and the option to save and share replays.
But seriously, beat Dark Souls first.
