Sea of Thieves is one of the most intriguing games on the horizon for Xbox One and PC gamers. While it doesn't have an official release date yet, Rare appears to be comfortable letting gamers get their hands on a build of the game right now over in Cologne, Germany at Gamescom 2016. If you (like many) weren't able to make the show, Rare Ltd has been livestreaming the game on their official Twitch channel.
The stream showcases a large oceanic world with players fulfilling a variety of roles of the vessel. Obviously, one player has to steer, but arguably the most intense role is repairing the ship below deck during battle. As your vessel is damaged by cannon fire, it begins to take on water, so players have to navigate carefully to be sure that they don't drown. One of the questions one could raise about the game is what exactly the players who aren't steering the ship will do when there is no combat.
There appeared to be a lot of standing around on the part of the other players outside of raising the mast, and many of them seemed to default to manning a cannon. Granted, this is by no means a final build of Sea of Thieves, but it is something to keep in mind going forward.
