Gamescom 2016: Resident Evil 7 gets bone-chilling new gameplay trailer

Capcom has given us our firt new look at Resident Evil 7: Biohazard since E3 when they released an eerie demo set in a small house that gave players a taste of what to expect in the upcoming first-person horror title. The demo spawned many theories and drove Neogaf users insane because of a stupid finger and there were many questions that spawned from the demo but many of our questions remain unanswered. Until now.

While we don't have answers to what that damn finger does, we have further background knowledge to the setting and the mysterious family seen in the original demo. The trailer may not give incredibly clear answers, but it helps give slightly more insight into what the game is about.

In the trailer, we see a woman attempting to escape from a menacing figure following her through an abandoned property filled with creepy baby dolls. The woman doesn't attempt to fight or confront the figure like many Resident Evil players would. The trailer focuses more on the survival horror aspect of the genre, showing the player using the environment to hide from the horrifying presence as tension rises.

Capcom gave some details about the dread-filled trailer  letting fans know that the place we see in the gameplay is on the same property as the demo and the mysterious figure is the same woman as the one following you around in the demo. "Set within the sinister plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, the Baker family, including Jack and Marguerite, were residents but no-one has seen or heard from them in a while. Where could they be? One thing is clear in the latest content to be shown from the game – there’s something not quite right within the plantation. Who is the mysterious girl in the gameplay? What does Marguerite want with her?"

With this new information, fans should note that we reported last month that Capcom teased something may be coming September 28th. It's just speculation, but is it possible that we could see a demo of the level seen in the newly released trailer? We will keep you updated as more details come out about Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard releases January 24th, 2017 on PS4 (which is fully playable in VR), Xbox One, and PC. PS4 players can also download the E3 demo right now if they have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
