[Gamescom 2017] Age of Empires 4 announced

These days, sequels of major franchises are a dime a dozen, some of them being confirmed before their first game even comes out. Other games, like Age of Empires, go on an extended hiatus, leaving us to appreciate every nook and cranny of previous entries, hoping for the day when we might hear its name again. Well fans, that day is finally here. Age of Empires IV is real and was announced in a trailer (embedded above) towards the end of the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition livestream.

There are no concrete details outside of its existence and that it's being developed by Relic Entertainment, developers on Dawn of War and Company of Heroes. And as you can see from the concept art-only trailer, there's not much else to go on, other than gleaning potential civilizations.

At this point, Age IV looks like it's a long ways off, but it doesn't matter. It's been so long anyway, just knowing that it's coming is exciting enough. Wololo.
