20 years ago, a little game called Age of Empires came out and has remained a healthy addiction for many a PC gamer ever since. Now, this Fall, the original game returns with 4K compatibility as Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, which got its very own Microsoft livestream earlier today. The stream revealed a new trailer (embedded above) alongside a release date of October 19th, 2017.
The game comes with a variety of improvements including updated visuals, a new UI, attack-move mechanics, control groups, an idle villagers button, and more modern online multiplayer features. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will be a Windows 10 exclusive, so if you were hoping for a Steam version, you're out of luck.
Microsoft also announced that Definitive Editions of Age II and Age III are also in the works, and even revealed that the long-awaited Age of Empires IV is finally in the works. Suffice it to say; it's the perfect time to be an Age of Empires fan.
