Despite selling 1 million PS4 consoles in 24 hours, there's still high demand for Sony's next-gen console. During GameStop's Q3 2013 financial call, the world's largest video game retailer revealed that they still have "over 2.3 million customers on the 'First to Know' list."
According to GameStop president Tony Bartel, this indicates "continued demand for months to come."
In the same earnings call, GameStop revealed that the PS4's sales is already 80% higher than the total amount of PS3s sold in the company's 2006 fiscal year, but that they believe demand will continue to grow.
GameStop CEO Paul Raines added, "We believe that demand for the new consoles will outstrip supply for the months to come. So we do not expect price discounting on the new platforms."
GameStop posted a net profit of $68.6 million for the third quarter of 2013 ended November 2, 2013, and expects next-gen console sales to lead to even greater profits in Q4.
