GameStop Says Switch Shortage May Happen Throughout 2017

Nintendo Switch has been selling very well since its launch at the beginning of this month. It's selling so well that, in true Nintendo fashion, Nintendo is having a hard time keeping up with production even though they've more than doubled it since launch. GameStop predicts that the shortage of Nintendo Switches may last throughout 2017.

According to VentureBeat, GameStop chief executive Paul Raines told investors, "We’re very cautious simply because of limited allocation. We don’t really have an aggressive forecast built-in for the Switch. We’ve learned with Nintendo not to do that."

Chief operating officer Tony Bartel also added, "The demand is incredibly strong. As soon as we get it into stores, it’s out within hours. We anticipate that we’ll be chasing supply this entire year.”

Despite the limited supply, GameStop has forecasted that the Switch could, in fact, outpace the Wii if sales continue to soar.

The excitement about the Switch shouldn't be slowing anytime soon either, according to Nintendo, as Reggie Fils-Aime anticipates a huge E3 for Nintendo.
