In 2014 GameStop closed their doors for Thanksgiving and it looks like they are staying true to their cause this Thanksgiving. GameStop has announced that they will not be giving in to holiday retail pressure this November. On November 26, GameStop's around the United States will be closed in celebration of Thanksgiving.
According to Mike Buskey, the executive vice president and president of GameStop's U.S. Stores, the closure is for both the customers and store employees.
"We believe strongly that our customers and associates should have the opportunity to spend the Thanksgiving holiday relaxing with family and friends, and not worrying with the stress of where to find the best shopping deals.
"We know this is in stark contrast to what many other retailers are doing, but we are taking a stance to protect family time during this important holiday. For our customers who want to do a little shopping on Thanksgiving Day, www.gamestop.com and www.thinkgeek.com will be open all day and taking orders".
Of course, GameStop can't exactly miss out on the Black Friday madness, but unlike last year they won't be opening at midnight. Employees are expected to report back to stores at the nice and early hour of 5 A.M. to deal with masses of sale hungry customers.
