Gauntlet, the arcade dungeon crawler that munched millions of quarters in the 80s, is ready to attack the PlayStation Network. Gauntlet: Slayer Edition comes from Arrowhead Game Studios, the fine folks behind Helldivers. The four classic character archetypes: wizard, warrior, valkyrie and elf are all present with different styles of play.
There are hordes of new enemy types waiting to lop your head of, including new takes on some of Gauntlet's long running foes. For example, the grunts of old now have a shaman that not only buffs them but summons indestructible homing projectiles.
Don't worry, the famous heroes have some new tricks to arm themselves with as well. Both their weapons and potions have hero-specific abilities. For example, the wizard has three different schools of magic to use: fire, ice and lightning.
For added replay value, there are daily colosseum challenges and an Endless Mode. It sends players through infinitely respawning procedurally generated floors, climbing leaderboards and earning some treasure along the way. Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is $19.99.
