Gearbox and 2K unveil Battleborn, their next-gen hero-shooter

2K Games and Gearbox has officially unveiled their next project, Battleborn. While some might be disappointed to hear that Borderlands 3 is not on the horizon, it looks like Gearbox is effectively taking a lot of elements that made Borderlands great, and applying them to Battleborn, as well as a suite of competitive multiplayer options, which were lacking from Borderlands.

Randy Pitchford stated that “If Borderlands 2 is a shooter-looter, Battleborn is a hero-shooter.” Being Game Informer's August Cover, the publication already unveiled a few key points about the game. It is going to be a FPS game, that much hasn't changed. However, instead of only a few characters like in Borderlands, Battleborn will feature a "ton of unlockable playable heroes" for players to choose from.

Also, it looks like Gearbox wants to capitalize on the successes of MOBAs like DOTA 2 and League of Legends, offering a competitive multiplayer mode called Incursion, with a familiar 5v5 setup.

And how does Randy Pitchford full describe Battleborn? Like this:
