Gearbox Software Teases new first-person shooter codenamed Project 1v1

Gearbox Software, the acclaimed developer behind the games Borderlands and Battleborn, has announced their latest project, codenamed Project 1v1. The company says the game features "fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game."

As for details, there are almost none, besides what's on their rather limited and secretive website. The site previews what looks to be a few boards or maps, that show something of an industrial or futuristic look, with ships flying and building being constructed out of rocks or mountains. Aside from slight aesthetics of the game, Gearbox does give away some of the game's modes, such as:

  • Ranked: Match with an opponent based on player rating. Win ranked matches to earn experience and crates containing new cards.
  • Challenge: Challenge your friend to an unranked match.
  • Arena: Queue up to challenge the current Arena champion – and win to take their place.

If you want to sign up for the beta, that will kick off late summer (August/September), you can visit their website (link below) and sign up for a Gearbox Shift Account.
