Gearbox has been running through tests and data, and have realized something, they weren't letting players in on good enough enough loot.
"Community members tested out the drop rates and let us know what they thought via the forums and feedback surveys. After digging through all the data, we discovered that standard drop rates were perceived as too rare but that anything over a 3x boost felt like too much – almost to the point where it was starting to take away the challenge and excitement from seeing that beautiful orange glow," said Gearbox's Jeff Skal on their official site.
Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection players will be seeing Legendary items more often, starting now (er, well, a couple days ago)! A hotfix is already available on every platform that the games are available on. The triple drop rate is a significant increase and was decided from more than just data in terms of numbers, it came from various tweaks on the game over the past five weeks that were experienced by players. Gearbox never revealed the exact numbers in each hotfix that changed the drop rate, simply hoping to go for the rate that "felt right."
Happy hunting!
