Gears of War 4 December update revealed

The next big Gears of War 4 update is on its way.

As developers The Coalition get set to test its multiplayer crossover this weekend, it announced today it will release the December update on December 6, adding two new multiplayer maps, “Gearsmas” goodies, as well as fixes and improvements to the game.

The new maps are called “Speyer” and “Glory.” Check out the descriptions and flyover videos below:

[Speyer] Evacuated long ago, this lonely district of Speyer is a still image of pre-Locust War life. The battle for the sanctuary is a close quarters affair, but teams looking to control the sprawling academy will need to do so together. Speyer’s opulent interiors and quaint plazas are best suited to longer range engagements.

[Glory] A monument of military might, this COG battery was used only against the most strategic targets to maintain its secrecy. The defensibility of this fortress can be used to your advantage if captured, which includes a powerful mounted turret that can suppress the courtyard below.

Both of the new maps will be added to the public playlist on December 13 – while fan favorites Gridlock and Relic will be taken out (for now). Public playlist maps are added to Gears of War 4 for free, with maps rotating in and out. Non-Season Pass holders can purchase the individual maps at the Gears of War store.

Season Pass holders will also be able to earn extra XP and Credit rewards when playing the Developer Playlist the week it’s available.

As for the other fixes and improvements, The Coalition says it will include:

·         A daily rewards system

·         Improved visual feedback for damage dealt with the Gnasher

·         Vertical split-screen for Windows 10 players

·         Improvements in footstep audio balance.

You can get more details on the Gears website as it gets announced. And don’t forget, you can currently pick up Gears of War 4 for 33 percent off starting today through December 28 at the Xbox Store Holiday sale.
