Gears of War and Halo Devs Apparently Working on Future Titles

Despite Microsoft's reveal of the Xbox One X at E3 this year, there were some that were unimpressed by the rest of Microsoft's conference. Specifically, the title lineups this year were particularly lacking in numbers. But apparently, some big names like 343 Industries (Halo) and The Coalition (Gears of War) are currently working on some new projects.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Phil Spencer, the chief boss man of Xbox, revealed that he's seen what the two above-mentioned studios are working on and he believes that they're doing "amazing work".

Spencer didn't expand on this fact, but to cross-reference, we do know that 343 is working on a new Halo, but we won't be likely to hear anything about it for a while. The Coalition, on the other hand, has been continuing to support Gears of War 4 while quietly working on the next installment.

In reference to their E3 performance, Spencer did point out that he's proud of the lineup Microsoft did reveal. He stated that games like Sea of Thieves, Super Lucky's Tale and Ori and the Will of the Wisps shows diversity in games players can find on Xbox and PC.

Earlier, Phil addressed the issue of the lack of AAA titles at E3, stating that E3 doesn't need to be crowded with big named titles we know will be coming at some point. "Frankly, I loved the fact I didn't have to bring out Gears and Halo just to say, hey. People know we have Gears and Halo in our portfolio, and we're working on other things that aren't on this list…"

That being said, AAA games are definitely being developed and will be announced when they're ready. They just don't need E3 to help announce the already established franchises.
