Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski to reveal new project next week

Cliff Bleszinsky, best known for his work on the Gears of War franchise and Unreal engine and most commonly by the moniker of 'Cliffy B,' says he’s “coming out of retirement.”

The news comes from Bleszinski himself; the designer took to Twitter today to announce he is “officially coming out of retirement to make video games again.” Details on his currently unannounced project will be released in the coming week.

Bleszinki’s mystery game has come up before. In the Pointless podcast of December 2013, he explained his intent to create “a PC experience that will hearken back to a certain type of game that we cut our teeth on.” Unsurprisingly, the game is said to be a first-person shooter. “It’s in my DNA,” Bleszinki added.

Strangely but promisingly, he also specified that he doesn’t “want to make a game that has a cutscene or a scripted sequence in it ever again.”
