A free update to Gears of War 4 is bringing a ton of content to the game next week! Titled 'Rise of the Horde' the update will be bringing two new maps, two new difficulty levels, the return of wings, 15 new skills, 20 new achievements, and new loot.
There is quite a bit to look forward to in Rise of the Horde, so let's start at the top!
The two new difficulty levels, Inconceivable and Ironman, bring a huge jump in difficulty to Gears of War 4. In Horde, Inconceivable will make you weaker and your enemies even more powerful. It's one step up above Insane and requires you to beat 50 consecutive waves of Insane before it unlocks.
In Campaign, Inconceivable gives you less health than Insane but also takes some health off your enemies – but that's not the hard part. The campaign mode will limit all weapons and ammo. To unlock Inconceivable Difficulty for Campaign you must beat the Campaign on Insane.
As for Ironman Mode, you won't want to die in this mode. Dying in the Campaign with Ironman Mode selected will have you restarting the game at the very beginning every time you die. In Horde, no COG tags will be dropped when you die and one failed wave spells the end of your run to Wave 50.
The two new maps are named Avalanche and Rust Lung, which you can see pictured below:
You can find a breakdown of the added Wings,15 new skills and 20 new achievements on the next page, as well as the patch notes on the last page.
