Before Gears of War Ultimate Edition made its official release on the Xbox One, Microsoft announced that the game would come with a free copy of Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment through the Xbox One's new backwards compatibility feature.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition released on August 25th, but we still have yet to hear anything about Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment until earlier today when Microsoft revealed a look at the first 104 backward compatible games for the Xbox One.
It turns out that unless you own your own personal copy of Gears 2, 3, and Judgement, you won't be able to play them through backward compatibility until December 1st. So, anyone that purchased Gears of War Ultimate Edition (and has played the game at least once) and became the first time owner of the Gears collection will have their game codes sent out no sooner than December.
If you own your own personal copies of Gears 2, 3, and Judgement you'll be able to play come November 12.
