The developers behind Gears of War 4 have announced a brand new feature for the game, cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs in Social Quickplay. This feature is set to release on Gears of War 4 today and comes after a cross-play Test Weekend was held late last year which helped the developers fine tune the feature.
While Xbox One and Windows 10 PC players will be able to play against one another in Gears of War 4's Social Quickplay, there will be restrictions in other multiplayer modes. Core and Competitive gameplay modes will not have a cross-play option.
This restriction will ensure that Ranked experiences are as closely matched and as competitive as possible. Because of the success that Social Quickly has seen on the Windows 10 PC version of Gears of War 4 Microsoft will be implementing Core and Competitive gameplay modes on PC version in the future.
Now if you're worried that one platform will have an unfair advantage, know that the initial Test Weekend revealed that Windows 10 and Xbox players had closely-matched results when comparing Average KD, Score and Kills per match based on skill ratings.
