Genshin Impact slashes through $100m barrier, New content detailed

Suffice to say, Genshin Impact had a tremendous launch. The free-to-play open-world action-RPG now reportedly grossed over $100 million. And that’s just two weeks after the game’s launch. A major success by any standard.

Even though excitement and anticipation for the title were high before the release, it’s fair to say even this much wasn’t expected. The gross figure comes via analyst Daniel Ahmad. According to it, this makes Genshin Impact the most successful Chinese new IP ever.

Developer miHoYo has now laid out a rough outline for the future of its live service game. Since the official statement is in Chinese, we are using the translated version via Reddit. Just as expected, players of Genshin Impact can rest assured that more content is incoming. And it’s not that far off either.

Fly across the open world, swim through crystal-clear waters, and climb towering mountains. Stray off the beaten path to discover all the hidden secrets of a world full of wonder and mystery.

Starting November 11th, a new event called ‘Unreturned Star Off’ will start with Version 1.1. Likewise, six weeks later on December 23rd, more content will be added with Version 1.2. Last but not least, next February will continue this strategy.

As you can see, the developers have a strict plan in mind to support its players with new and exciting stuff to do. A crucial aspect of any F2P live service game.

In case there are still doubts about just how big a splash Genshin Impact made, the game was just voted Game of the month September by the PlayStation community. Quite the achievement when you think that Marvel’s Avengers, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2 Remaster, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and more came out, too.
