I play a lot of Madden 15. I'm currently in the midst of an online connected franchise where I'm playing as the Redskins — a team I thoroughly dislike. My defense is pretty solid, but I have a few games where dominant running teams (like the Cowboys) beat me down pretty good. That said, my run defense is never as bad as the Panthers' defense on this play you're about to watch.
Posted to the Madden subreddit, /u/Buddy813 uploaded a few clips from a game he was playing as the Buccaneers against the Panthers (one of the worst teams to ever make the playoffs). With what looks like the first or second play of the first quarter, the Buccaneers line up in a 3 WR set and a single RB on their own 49, and take the ball 51 yards on a run into the endzone. It was easy. Too easy. Because the Panthers defense was missing. And I don't mean the Bucs' o-line opened up a gaping hole against them — I mean there were no Panthers players on the field.
And after running into the endzone, the 11 Panthers defensive players suddenly appeared near the goal post. WTF. It looks like one of two things happened: 1) the defense gave up the TD on purpose in some weird sort of Bill Belichek genius move, or 2) they were teleported to another dimension by some wizardry and appeared later on in the play.
Here's the play:
As if that wasn't enough, it looks like Cam Newton and the Panthers experimented with a new offense, as well. And it doesn't look as bad as their offense in real life:
