Fans who attend the GameStop Expo this year will be among the first to play Sony's yet-to-be-released PlayStation 4 console. The video game retailer's annual tradeshow gives gamers a sneak peek at the "hottest upcoming video games (and consoles), before they're ever available to the public." This includes the PS4, the company confirmed.
"Be one of the first ever to play Sony's PlayStation 4 – before it's released!" the official site for the Expo claims. Sony announced the PlayStation 4 in February and although they showed off quite a few games, the actual PS4 console remains a mystery to us. That should all change come E3 (June) where it's assumed Sony will continue to reveal its next-gen PlayStation console — particularly what the darn thing looks like.
Seeing as how E3 is a media event only, the PS4's presence there — and likely reveal — still doesn't give general consumers a chance to play the new system. So technically, this GameStop Expo could be one of the first chances the general masses will have. Over 80 developers, publishers, and vendors in total will be present at the event.
GameStop Expo 2013 takes place on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. The day-long event begins at 11:00am (with VIPs allowed in at 10:00am) and closes at 6:00pm. GameStop PowerUp Rewards members can purchase general admission tickets for $35.
