Go Platinum in Uncharted 4 and get rewarded by Naughty Dog

I finished this 20 hour game in less than 6 hours and all I got was this lousy picture!

Platinum trophies are hard to achieve. They take days, sometimes weeks to earn and when you see it on someone's PSN profile, you know they went through a lot to get it. It's a badge of honor.

Uncharted 4's platinum trophy is incredibly intimidating, especially when you look at all the other trophies you need to earn in order to get it. You have to beat the 15-20 hour game in less than 6 hours, beat the game on the incredibly difficult 'Crushing' difficulty, find all the very well hidden 109 treasures, and many more tedious tasks. Needless to say, anyone who has the platinum has my respect.

To reward players for their dedication to Nathan Drake's final adventure, Sony sent out a batch of emails to players who had earned platinum. Within the email was a picture of Uncharted 4's collectors edition steelbook cover art and a few kind words from the folks at PlayStation. Whether you think that's a big enough reward for such a tedious task is up to you, but it's still cool to see PlayStation thanking their fans for their dedication.

Some other developers have also sent out small gifts to dedicated fans. When Grand Theft Auto IV released in 2008 there was an achievement for beating the game in 30 hours, players who accomplished this task in two weeks of the release were sent a key by Rockstar Games. The key was a "key to Liberty City", the city where the crime thriller took place.

The developers of Bloodborne also rewarded players with a unique theme for their PS4 homescreen.

In other Uncharted 4 news, the game has become the best selling first-party PlayStation 4 title to date selling nearly 3 million copies. A sexist focus tester was also asked to leave due to an issue they had with the portrayal of one of the game's numerous female characters.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is is out now exclusively for PlayStation 4.
