If you're like me, you have absolutely no interest in watching the Miner 49ers and the Edgar Allan Poe Ravens go up against each other this weekend. However, I'm always drawn to those crazy commercials that seem to only get made to air during that time. Sony is trying to reel me by enticing me with a live-action TV spot for God of War: Ascension.
The TV spot will air during the online stream of the Super Bowl, hosted at CBSsports.com, and serve as the central part of the God of War: Ascension national TV ad campaign.
Produced by Imaginary Forces and set to a haunting arrangement of Ellie Goulding’s “Hanging On” (from her recent album Halcyon), the ad represents one of the most ambitious promotions in PlayStation history. Fitting, given that God of War: Ascension—the latest project from Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studio’s (SCE WWS) Santa Monica Studio—is an exploration into the beginnings of Kratos, one of gaming’s most iconic characters.
If you're impatient, or just can't tolerate turning on that sport where guys jump all over each other for a ball that's not even round, you can head on over to the official PlayStation YouTube channel on February 1st and check out the full version there. Sweet!
