Even after two E3's PlayStation 4's God of War has done a pretty good job keeping the spoilers under wraps. We expect that to change as we move closer to the new calendar year, but some new details have popped up in an interview with Cory Barlog with PlayStation Magazine. The most notable detail from the interview revolves around the game's upgrade system, which will look and function quite differently from past entries.
With the apparent emphasis on narrative this time around, Sony Santa Monica is translating that into how players will boost the power of their weapons. In Norse Mythology, the dwarven brothers, Brokk and Syndri crafted Thor's legendary hammer, Mjolnir, and in the new God of War, the pair will be helping not only Kratos but his son, Atreus as well.
How you use the pair will come at a natural pace sys Barlog. "Through the interactions between them you are able to fully understand and actually help change the arc for each of these characters," he said.
The dwarves will help you define your playstyle, and like other God of War games, you won't be limited by the weapon you get at the outset of the game. There aren't any details on what the other weapons are as of this moment, but it's at least nice to know that we will have options.
God of War doesn't currently have a release date, but it is expected to land sometime in 2018.
