The next title in God of War was a huge surprise to all those watching E3 2016, and since then they've been pretty tight lipped. As one of PlayStation's most popular IPs, this isn't too surprising, as they may not be ready to reveal too much and it's not like the hype is going to die if details come a bit later.
God of War Director Cory Barlog, however, does answer some fan questions on Twitter pretty often. He gives insight on some development of the game, but sometimes some juicy information makes its way through. For instance, Barlog confirmed that the studio was almost finished shooting for the game.
God of War hasn't appeared at any conventions since its reveal, not even the PlayStation Experience where it was probably expected. But Barlog did state that more info would be revealed once the E3 trailer of God of War hit 15 million views on YouTube. A trailer which can be seen conveniently located below.
In September, Barlog said that Sony Santa Monica aims to push the boundaries of the PS4, stating that the God of War series has always done so in the past with other consoles. There have been some die-hard fans out there that are skeptical on the new direction of the game but Barlog responds with, "Sorry if you are not liking the new stuff. Hopefully, you'll wait to play before writing us off completely. The ace is awesome."
Lastly, Barlog left us with a bit more information on the game's development cycle. Specifically, he stated that it's completely playable right now. This comes as a surprise given how little we know of the title. The takeaway could possibly be that the polish on the final product should be extra shiny and perhaps releasing sooner than we thought, although no release date has been confirmed.
