Godzilla 2 to be “bigger and better”

While Japan takes the helm for a 2016 Godzilla film, a sequel to the U.S.-based  2014 film from Warner Bros. is being written by Max Borenstein, the writer of the previous film. The sequel is set to release on June 8, 2018 and will feature giant monsters from the past (instead of the new 'MUTO'): Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.

Borenstein has quite a bit lined up for him at the moment, not only is he penning the script for Godzilla 2, but also the script for FOX's upcoming TV series Minority Report.

When asked by Collider whether or not writing for Minority Report would keep him from writing the Godzilla sequel, Borenstein replied, "No, I’m doing it. I’m writing it now, and it’s really going to be great. I don’t want to go off book and tell you anything that I’m not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We’re really stoked."

While the potential to make things 'bigger and better' is great, I would prefer they actually show Godzilla fighting more. The original film had way too many scenes of Godzilla and MUTOs running at each other and cutting away, running at each other and cutting away — it was too much and too little!

Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn't expected to reprise his role as the main protagonist.
